The 1981 Men's varsity soccer season was the first for the program. I was a part-time coach. The team went 6-18-2 in that inaugural season.

We played Division I teams University of South Alabama, Centenary College, University of New Orleans, Nicholls State University and NAIA Belhaven. Victories were hard to come by with a team that had thirteen freshmen.

Managers were Dana Doyle and Dawn Dietrich.
